Destination weddings are my favourite types of weddings to DJ. They are usually located in a warm climate, with beautiful views, and the vibe all around is lively. Some of my favourite Persian destination weddings I’ve DJed have been in Europe. Portugal, Italy, and Spain come to mind. In my opinion, there are a few reasons for this. The wedding ends a lot later (usually after 3 am closing), resorts typically have more restrictions, and the views can be breathtaking.

Sam and Heather contacted me to be their Persian wedding DJ for their Iranian / Jamaican fused destination wedding in Barcelona, Spain. After asking a series of questions about what they envision for their wedding, I knew this was the job for me and was thrilled to be part of their big night!

Specializing in DJing Iranian and American music and having grown up DJing Dancehall Reggae, I knew this was a wedding party I was going to enjoy performing at. I wasn’t wrong. The wedding reception dinner took place on an outdoor beautifully decorated field in the suburbs of Barcelona, then the event moved inside for a ‘bashment’ style dance party until 3 am!

Below is a video snippet of the after-party fun.

Cocktails & o’dourves

The wedding ceremony was followed by the cocktail segment, which included a Spanish band performing live lounge music as guests enjoyed cocktails and o’dourves on a terrace.

Dinner and reception

The great thing about having your Persian destination wedding in a private villa is that you get to hire your wedding vendors. You are not obligated to use the venue chef, resident DJ, bartender, decorator and such. This makes your wedding unique, and also have the best talents in every aspect.

Sam and Heather hired an outside caterer for dinner, which was nothing less than spectacular. The food presentation, taste, and options made dinner a much better experience than most weddings.

The crowd was also energetic, which made dinner more fun. Short dancing segments happened in between courses, which is something I always recommend for Persian weddings as it keeps the night lively.

Wedding fun

The wedding included Persian traditions such as the knife dance (raghse chaghoo), and sofre aghd during the ceremony.

Overall, this Persian / Jamaican mixed destination wedding in Spain was a huge success. The party was non-stop, the food was excellent, the staff was friendly and outgoing, and the night was full of fun and joy.
