What can be said about New York that hasn’t already been sung in a hit song?
I’ve always had a great time performing as a Persian wedding DJ in New York. The crowd has been lively, and the staff very hospitable.
Omid and Maegan’s wedding was no different. After interviewing a series of DJs, The couple reached out to me, in the middle of the pandemic (2020), looking for a Persian wedding DJ to perform in New York. I answered their questions and knew exactly what they envisioned for their big Persian/American wedding.
The couple wanted a Persian wedding DJ who could bilingually MC in Farsi and English, had experience with Persian AND American weddings, had the proper travel documents to perform DJ services for a wedding in New York and had other persuading booking factors, like raving reviews, wedding DJ videos, and a reliable reputation. I was the right fit for them.
Wedding ceremony
A beautiful outdoor wedding ceremony on top of the mountains that included a fusion of Persian (aghd aroosi) and Jewish cultures set the stage for making the marriage official.
Cocktails & o’dourves with a view
The wedding ceremony was followed by the cocktail segment, which included lounge House music vibes, a cool breeze on a warm night, and tasty refreshments over a beautiful sunset on top of the mountains.
Wedding reception
The wedding reception included a lot of dancing, just the right amount of speeches, great food, and more dancing! The crowd was split 50/50 with Persian and non-Persian guests, but the dance floor was packed 100% of the time.
Wedding dances
The couple’s first dance, father and daughter dance, and mother and son dance were emotional and beautiful.
Knife dance and cake cutting
Three bridesmaids danced with the knife in the traditional Persian knife dance (raghse chaghoo) until the groom coughed up enough money to satisfy the bridesmaids to hand over the cake knife.
